Euphorbia peplus, commonly known in Australia as Radium weed or milkweed, or cancer weed is classed as a non-invasive weed, and most probably was introduced to Australia by European settlers in the early 1800s for its historical medicinal use as a purgative. Some folklore suggested that the irritant sap was applied to warts, corns, waxy growths, sun cancers and rodent ulcers, but this is hard to qualify this absolutely. Radium weed is not classified as a noxious weed in any Australian State.

The home of a thousand faces. On entering Radium Hot Springs from Kootenay National Park, you will immediately notice a number of life-sized wood carvings on the roadside. This is the studio of local artist Rolf Heer who carves from stumps, driftwood or any other kind of unique wood found in the area.
